A digital event: join us for a talk on the philosophy behind Star Wars to shed light on your own journey.
Do you ever ask yourself: “is there more to life than this?” Do you feel an overwhelming desire to be part of something bigger than yourself? Do you have a strong sense that there is a mission in your life that you feel compelled to fulfill?
If so you may have the makings of a modern day Jedi, who sees life as an adventure – full of wonder and self-discovery. Join us as we explore the Hero’s Journey through the Star Wars Saga.
Star Wars was conceived by George Lucas as a modern myth. It is based on the quintessential mono-myth as often referred to as The Hero’s Journey. Joseph Campbell identified this form as the pervasive archetype of adventure, conquest and transformation in mythic traditions worldwide. Campbell decoded 12 steps in the Hero’s Journey that take us from what is known and familiar, to the realm of the unknown. It is here we encounter the many trials and tribulations that ultimately require us to overcome our own inner demons in order to slay those that prevent our forward progress.
We will trace the footsteps of Luke Skywalker, the chief protagonist in this space operatic adventure through a series of short clips from the Star Wars films. We will observe key moments that will illustrate the utility of hope, courage, and patience in his journey and perhaps our own heroic journey as well.
